April 15, 2026 — Palani Drive, located at 401 Libbie Avenue in Richmond’s Westhampton neighborhood, has been owned and operated by Jeff Weatherly since opening its doors in 1998. Palani Drive is named for a road on the Big Island, Hawaii, where the Ironman Triathlon is run. Palani Drive has been known since its founding for fresh, healthy fare and making almost everything from scratch, giving Palani the ability to cater to any dietary issue. Palani Drive's varied menu includes wraps, salads, smoothies, quesadillas, burgers, globally-inspired specials, and much more.

Over the years, Palani Drive has been involved in the local athletic community, including triathlon, cycling, running, and catering events. More recently, Palani Drive has added frequent events and live music from local musicians.

Mr. Weatherly announced his retirement April 1, 2026 and will be officially retiring on July 1, 2026. While several interested parties are exploring possible ownership of Palani Drive, Mr. Weatherly is still fielding and accepting offers from interested buyers.

On Sunday, May 3, 2026, Palani Drive will hold the first in a series of events marking the occasion. From 4 PM to 7 PM at the restaurant, there will be a special menu including food from the grill and Louisiana-style fare. Featured music will be by Joe Scott and his Dixieland Band. Entry is free.
